I’m 19 and getting my first car soon?

J-qso asked:

I've always been into the really sleek and sporty looking cars. Right now I'm eyeing either the Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice, or a Honda S2000. A Mazda RX-8 would be nice too. I like the smaller cars because they're easier to park and just maneuver overall.

But I'm also concerned about safety since I'm a new driver. I drive defensively and am too afraid to drive really fast lol, but I acknowledge the fact that most accidents happen when you're a new driver. At the same time I refuse to look like a geek in my car lol.
Also I'm used to a little power because I occasionally drive my parents Jaguar.

So what cars are a little sporty and sleek, but are also good choices for new drivers. It can be new or used...preferably used since my parents don't wanna pay too much:)

Go with the Honda, it is very reliable and has a proven history.

Saturn used to have good safety ratings up until the Ion came out, then they dropped. If you want a “safe” car, get a Volvo or a SUV.

Acura TSX (small, but still fast and cool)
Acura RSX (sports car, used as a Tuner car to most people)
Audi A3 (pretty sporty, can also go pretty fast)

i wouldnt go for a convertible especially the sky or solstice cause your a new driver and your insurance will be high and if you get in an accident you dont have much protection. since your looking for a sports car i say go for a used bmw 3 series coupe or a used infiniti G35 coupe..

Out of those your best bet would be a Sky. I would go with what someone else said and recommend a G35 coupe. They are gorgeous, handle well, and quick. They are around 300HP so they might be a bit too much for you to handle. Something nice with not as much power would be a used Acura RSX Type-S.

Sky, or the S2000 is a great choice. the S2000 perferably because i’ve test drove one and it is just amazing. the Sky does have great looks, and it has good power, but the safety ratings don’t seem very good. but, whatever you do, do not buy the RX-8. when it first came out for a couple of years, i loved it. but, the RX-8 is a huge gas guzzler because of its rotary engine. other cars to consider are the MINI Cooper (Standard or S), or a Audi A3. both of these are quite small and have good gas mileage. but again, do not buy a SMART Fortwo. they may look cute and look small, but they are a waste of money. i used to also like the Fortwo, but then i found out bad news on it. the gas mileage is horrible for a car with such a small engine (33/42mpg). also, the SMART is way overpriced.
