User Reviews

Once I opened this book I could not put it away and I think anyone who owns the car would have a similar experience. It was well written, full of excellent images and contains the type of information that provides the reader with a good understanding of the vehicles design and development. I especially enjoyed the description of the car's assembly process.

The book was written after the first year of Solstice production and does not have infornation about the later years and it could benefit from a second edition, but even so I still found it informative enough. So if you are an owner, want to own one, or simply love the car, I think you will find this book an essential addition to your library. -- Kappa Car Owner's Must Read
I purchased this book for my dad for Christmas. He has a Solstic coupe and loves it. The car itself is amazing to drive - it's heavy, yet light on its 'feet'. When I came across the book I knew he would love it.

This compilation of images and articles of the Solstice from start to finish is fantastic. The book is a bit heavy and the price seems high, but it is worth the money. It is filled with interesting facts about the little car that could. A GREAT addition to any Solstice owner's collection of sports car paraphenalia! -- Beautifully done! A Must Have for Solstic Owners.
A couple years ago, my partner purchased a Pontiac Solstice, a nice looking little two-seater sports car. What a load of fun! I had not driven a standard transmission for almost twenty years, and it took me awhile to get the hang of it again. But the car became something that both of us really enjoyed. While I know that "Consumer Reports" does not report this as a great sporty car, it sure works for us.

This book does a nice job of putting the Solstice (and its sister, the Saturn Sky) in context. It describes the development of the concept for this car; it examines production design; it considers the engineering. The book doesn't speak much to this, but one thing that took both of us a while to get used to is how quickly you need to shift to 2nd and then to 3rd. But 3rd makes this car into something like a rocket! Apparently, it was engineered to do so. Pontiac hesitated about the platform, some wanting to use the Corvette concept, others wanting something different. But the original idea was used (a relatively inexpensive fun car that performed well), and GM--for a change--didn't wreck a concept due to its bureaucratic inertia.

The book follows with chapters on assembly, the turbo engine, sale and marketing, and the little details.

The book is, of course, an advertisement for the car and not overly objective. But we enjoy this vehicle and the book has added to the experience!
-- Nice book about a fun car!
Well written book and a must own for all Solstice owners and their fans. This book and the car will be sought after collector items in the near future. Thanks for the book about a great American sports car. Great insite into the automotive industry. -- Pontiac Solstice Book
This book is just prefect! It shows how the solstice went from a drawing to a real car! Lots of pictures of how the car was designed and how it is built. It will be a great book to have when Pontiac goes away! -- solstoce book is a winner!
